Mom and dad have been divorced for 28 years, but he still mows her lawn

Mom and dad have been divorced for 28 years, but he still mows her lawn. If everyone treated each other with this much respect, the world would be in such a better place.

After many couples get divorced, they find it difficult to maintain a friendship. Sure, they might be civil toward one another, but to actually be friends? That takes a certain type of character in both people to make it happen. And you’re about to see one of the finest examples of this.

The story was posted online by Codie LaChelle McPhate (the Facebook post is no longer available) and recently reposted by Cafe Mom. The teenager was so in awe of his divorced parents that they had to share it with the world.

“This is my father, cutting my mother’s grass.” Divorced 28 years,” they begin their post, sharing a seemingly inconspicuous photo.
However, the image is by no means inconspicuous. In fact, it’s really impressive. In case you missed that last little sentence, the couple has been divorced for nearly three decades. Apparently, the younger siblings in the family were also a little confused by this gesture, however, Cody knew exactly what was going on.

“My mom has weak knees, and my stepdad works out of town.” When my younger siblings asked, “Why does your dad mow mom’s lawn?” I told them, “Because she needed help and he knew she couldn’t come here to do it. , so he did.”

This is shared parenting.

Cody not only realizes that both of her parents are very special people. She is also grateful to both of her new parents, her step-parents, for accepting the situation so graciously.

“I’m so lucky to have four parents who respect each other and know that at the end of the day, the only important thing is to show my children (even the one who is 32) how to treat people and how to love their families, no matter how gathered,” she continued.

As if that gesture wasn’t sweet enough, Cody discovers that her father doesn’t even live near her mother.

“My dad is with me in Texas on vacation. “He doesn’t even live where my mom lives,” she says. “So not only did he do something selfless for her, but he did it for her while he was on VACATION.” He wants everyone to know, ‘I’m not a saint.’ He just wants to show others that you don’t have to act like an angelic shepherd during Lent, but that we all choose kindness whenever we can.”

If there are couples who have gone through or are going through a divorce or separation, you may be wondering – how do they do it? Well, this dad says he doesn’t want any recognition for his behavior, that’s what he and his ex-wife decided to do after they divorced.

“He said that my mom and he decided that when they were going through a divorce, they would both choose to be adults and treat each other with respect and compassion, because no matter how their marriage ended, they both loved each other.” many each other at a time. and that love counts. That if they want to raise their children to be good, kind people, they must be good, kind people.

These two amazing couples are to be watched and admired for their incredible civility and compassion for each other.

Cody ends their message and story by thanking her for being raised by such wonderful people. And, one thing’s for sure – we’d have to wholeheartedly agree.
